For teacher sub-standard 4b, you need to demonstrate that you consistently promote a love of learning and children’s intellectual curiosity

The types of evidence you can use to showcase this are:

  • Learning environment; encouraging children’s questions/ ideas and opportunities for deep questioning and curiosity to be aroused

  • Evidence that children’s ideas have fed into topics

  • Promotion of love of books/reading

  • Student voice/ feedback

  • Lesson observations and learning walks – staff enthusiasm

  • Engagement in wider activities, e.g. World Book Day

  • Enrichment opportunities – visitors

  • Pupil conferencing – evaluation

  • Parental responses

  • Positive behaviour observed

Remember that the evidence in isolation isn’t enough, you will need to annotate it to signpost exactly where/how you are meeting the standard.

You can use photographic evidence to support your evidence for this standard. Be sure to anonymise any student work or data by blacking out names or identifying details.

The controls in the OVO game are easy but tricky to master.

I always encourage students to share ideas and ask deep questions, even during recess activities. Many students actively discuss active games like Basket Random to connect to the lesson.
